DIY: l. o. v. e.

I think by now we all know and realize that love is hard. It's 90% heartache/headache and 10% happiness/bliss. Yet, for whatever reason that 10% bliss is enough to keep the entire world hopeful and expectant of finding their true love. We all want and need the companionship of significant other, but it doesn't come neatly wrapped in a bow under the Christmas tree like we expect it to. It's not like in the movies where the guy gets the girl every time or there's some epiphany and the couple rushes to each other and reconciles. Many people struggle within themselves over what's best or how they really feel about a person and do end up reconciling but what TV, movies and books don't always show is that in the majority of cases it can take years, or even a whole lifetime, for a person to realize that they truly love or don't love someone.

Love is messy and is the hardest puzzle in the universe to solve, which is probably why it's the most sought after. I think of love and relationships as God's DIY gift to us. He gives us the tools and the instruction manual, or say all the ingredients and the cookbook, but we have to do the work. It's up to us to build it or make it taste right. It's great to dream and hope for true love to find you, but it never will unless you take some action! So stop waiting for your prince charming to find you and give you a happy ending -- make your own! Let your significant other be the icing on the cake you made or the fuzzy dice in the car you fixed up! [a part of the finished product, but not the structure, because happiness is from within and shouldn't depend on another person.] :D
